Man hit by a car while crossing the street
A Colorado Springs man was rushed to the hospital after he was hit by a car while crossing the street at the intersection of Pikes Peak and Academy Boulevard. At the time of the report, he was in critical condition at a local hospital and the Colorado Springs Police Department do not believe any sort of drugs and alcohol to be involved in the accident. According to the Colorado News First Five, the police are still investigating what happened at the scene and have not released all of the information.
Last year, over 70,000 U.S. citizens were injured in pedestrian related accidents. The most at risk people to be involved in this sort of accident are the elderly and young children. Sadly, the majority of these accidents are caused by inattentive drivers. A distracted driver can easily hit a pedestrian or bicyclist and leave them with severe and lifelong injuries, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, burns, and more.
